If you are interested in learning traditional Japanese martial arts you are welcome to visit and watch or participate in a class. Please contact us before visiting your first class to introduce yourself and to avoid disappointment if there has been a disruption to the regular class schedule.
Classes run for approximately 2 hours; seminars for 2+ hours. Please arrive 5-10 min early. Wear loose-fitting clothing and bring a bottle of water.
The fee structure varies between locations. However, your first class is always FREE.
Once you have committed to the training (generally after 6-8 weeks), there is an annual insurance payment of $80 which allows you to train at any Makion-Ha Bujutsu dojo. You will also be required to purchase a uniform, which can be arranged through the dojo for $70 (includes cotton gi, embroidered emblem patch and white belt).
Tabi (traditional Japanese footwear) and kyahan (traditional Japanese gaiters) can also be purchased through the dojo – price depends on the size of group orders because of shipping costs from Japan but is usually around $50 for tabi and $30 for kyahan. Download tabi and kyahan sizing charts.
On-site cash payments are preferred at this stage as there are no card facilities available. Direct deposit may be possible by arrangement.
